Salvage Inspection

The easiest way to ensure you get a salvage truck in good condition is to inspect it before you bid. To do that, you need to visit the Copart yard where it is stored and check the condition of the truck. You can do it yourself, or you can hire a professional inspector to do it for you. Some yards will allow you access by registering on Copart.com for a free membership. However, it is not guaranteed. Please contact the yard prior to visiting. Hiring an inspector is more recommended, as the inspector knows what to check for. He may even give you price estimates of the various parts the salvage truck might need.

Once you are sure the truck is repairable and that the repairs are within your budget, you can then bid on the truck. The inspector should be able to list for you the parts that need repairs and the estimated cost of those repairs.

Before you visit the Copart yard, always have two or three trucks in mind that you would like to inspect. If one truck doesn’t meet your expectations, you can always go for the next available truck.
